Tarbert Lighthouse on the River Shannon in County Kerry
I recently purchased a Fujifilm X-E1 mirrorless camera with 18-55mm f2.8 and 14mm f2.8 lenses. This is one of the first images I took with it while crossing the Shannon on the Tarbert to Killimer car ferry on a calm summers morning.
The X-E1 is a fantastic camera with stunning image quality, low noise and superb handling. The lens are wonderfully sharp and the Optical Image Stabilisation on the XF 18-55 zoom lens works very well. I intend posting more images and information on this camera as time allows.
Attended PhotoFest 2013 yesterday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. As usual, there were lots of nice toys to play with and the Nikkor 200 mm F2.0 AF-S VR prime lens certainly caught my eye. This is a truly amazing lens with a price tag to match. Read the full review of its stellar performance on the Photozone site.
I took this photo with the Panasonic GX-1 at 6400 ISO. Its a beautiful camera with nice handling. Wheres my wallet?
A big Thank You to Listowel Camera Club for asking me to give a talk on black and white photography on Monday night. We had a great attendance and a very lively question and answer session through the night. Special thanks to Ger Roche and Jim Doolin for the invite and for co-ordinating the event. Its always a pleasure to attend their club nights and I would encourage anyone with an interest in photography to visit them and become a member of their very active club.
I will be giving a talk to the members of Listowel Camera Club on black and white photography on Monday the 26th of March at The Family Resource Centre, John B Keane Road. They are a very active club and I have had the pleasure of working with them on many occasions. I am looking forward to a lively session with lots of questions, example images and some tutorials.
