I recently had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Clodagh Kennelly and Denis McMahon at The Church of Assumption, Loughill, Co. Limerick. Their reception was held at The Devon Inn Hotel, Templeglantine, Co. Limerick. Many thanks to them for asking me to share in their special day and I wish them every health and happiness in their lives together.
Some images from various trips to Dublin, all taken with the fuji X-E1 system and 18-55mm and 14mm Fuji lens.
I had the wonderful pleasure of photographing the wedding of Kelly and Brian on Saturday March 1st 2014. The wedding ceremony was at St Flannan’s Church, Lisdeen County Clare followed by reception at The Armada Hotel Spanish Point. On the way to the reception the wedding party stopped at Garrihy’s Pub in Moyasta for some refreshments. The Armada Hotel holds a special place in the couples hearts as it was here that they first met. Brian’s family made the long trek from his native Canada for the wedding and thoroughly enjoyed the landscape, the people and the celebrations.
Kelly and Brian are a wonderful couple and I wish them every health and happiness in their married lives.
A high resolution printable calendar for 2013 is available in the downloads section of my website. The calendar features an image of Meenogahane in County Kerry.
I hope you like it.
A big Thank You to Listowel Camera Club for asking me to give a talk on black and white photography on Monday night. We had a great attendance and a very lively question and answer session through the night. Special thanks to Ger Roche and Jim Doolin for the invite and for co-ordinating the event. Its always a pleasure to attend their club nights and I would encourage anyone with an interest in photography to visit them and become a member of their very active club.
I will be giving a talk to the members of Listowel Camera Club on black and white photography on Monday the 26th of March at The Family Resource Centre, John B Keane Road. They are a very active club and I have had the pleasure of working with them on many occasions. I am looking forward to a lively session with lots of questions, example images and some tutorials.
The Neil van Neikerk workshop which was held at the Portmarnock Hotel recently was a wonderful experience. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day which was packed with useful information and practical sessions. Neil has a fantastic ability to make learning easy with a relaxed presentation and style that comes from years of experience. He was accompanied on the day by his assistant Jessica and with beautiful models Roz Purcell and Hannah Devane on hand, we could not ask for more. We were also very lucky with the weather for the outdoors portrait sessions, and it held dry for the day with a soft light that made for some great shooting.
Neil displayed the on camera flash techniques for which he is justifiably regarded, as well as using video light for dramatic portrait lighting. The Portmarnock Hotel provided some lovely locations for the sessions and we certainly distracted a lot of The All Ireland Football Final fans when they caught eye of the models.
Thanks especially to Liam Ramsell of Pro Foto Training for brining Neil to Ireland and organising the event so well. It was amazing value and I could not recommend it highly enough.
I intend posting some shots from the workshop here and on my website in the coming weeks.

It was another fantastic night photographing the students from Causeway Comprehensive School, Co. Kerry as they enjoyed their debs dance at Ballyroe Heights Hotel, Tralee. I cant believe how fast another year has passed and that a new group of students are ready to face the world. It was a wonderful night despite the wind and rain and it certainly did not dampen their enthusiasm. Ballyroe Heights Hotel is a wonderful location and its always a joy to work there. Many thanks to the hotel management and staff for their help on the night and to the Principal and Vice Principal of Causeway School for hiring me again to photograph this wonderful night.
Best of luck to the the students for the future.
